  Short Term Disability
Short Term Disability Insurance provides you with income protection if you become Totally Disabled from a covered Sickness, Accidental Bodily Injury or Pregnancy. The amount of your STD Benefit is determined according to the terms of the Labor Agreement between your Employer and your Local Union.

  Elimination Period and Maximum Period

No STD Benefits are payable until you have been Totally Disabled for the entire Elimination Period. Your Elimination Period for each period of Total Disability is determined according to the terms of the Labor Agreement between your Employer and your Local Union.

If you are confined as an inpatient in a legally constituted and operated hospital during your Elimination Period, the remainder of your Elimination Period will be waived and STD Benefits will be payable beginning on the first day of your hospital confinement.

Your Maximum Benefit Period is 26 weeks. The Maximum Benefit Period begins at the end of the Elimination Period.

  Definition of Total Disability

You are Totally Disabled if you are unable, as a result of Sickness, Death, Accidental Bodily Injury or Pregnancy, to perform with reasonable continuity the material duties of your own occupation.
